Essex County Council Appoints ECR HopOn to Deliver New County-Wide Digital Transport mobile app.

Essex County Council digital transport app partnership with ECR HopOn

Essex County Council has appointed ECR Solutions, part of the HopOn Group, to deliver a new multipurpose sustainable transport app.

This will allow passengers to plan journeys, book digital demand responsive transport (DDRT), buy tickets and more. The new app will allow residents across Greater Essex to plan, book and pay for journeys using their mobile phone and computer. It will support both fixed-route and flexible transport services. The app will cover travel modes including rail, bus, walking, cycling and micro-mobility.

A first for Essex

The project marks one of the UK’s first countywide use of multipurpose sustainable transport apps. This app will be a vast improvement on the current TravelEssex. It will offer many more benefits to the residents of Essex. It will also contribute towards the council’s focus on promoting a greener, healthier Essex.

Partnership with Liftango

ECR will deliver the platform in partnership with on-demand transport specialists Liftango. Their intelligent routing and booking engine will form the core of the DDRT service.

What the Council Says

“We want to make it as easy as possible for residents to use safer, greener and healthier transport in Essex. TravelEssex, working with ECR Solutions, will create a single and inclusive digital platform. This will make it easier and simpler to plan, book and pay for travel across the county.”

Cllr Cunningham, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, Infrastructure and Sustainable Transport

ECR’s Perspective

“Everything we do is built around improving shared mobility. We have helped transform transport choices for clients around the world. We are excited to bring that experience to Essex. This project is about real change, making it easier for people to plan and take everyday journeys, with fewer barriers. We are proud to support a solution that helps more people leave the car behind and choose smarter, more sustainable ways to travel.”

Amir Rosenzweig, CEO of ECR and the HopOn Group

This project is funded by the UK government, Bus Service Improvement Grant.
